As a former athlete I found joy in the escape of everyday struggles through sports and other physical activity. After my playing days I suffered from depression due to not having the game of football in my life anymore. No longer being a part of the game made me not want to do anything, which took a toll on my mental health as well as my body. I never realized that physical activity played such a major role in mental health until I was not active. Realizing the impact of physical health on one’s mental health, I decided to start my fitness business. Through my journey of self discovery, I wrote a book on the reinvention of self after sports. Writing this book has opened the door to present the opportunity of public speaking. Finding my passion and purpose in helping young athletes understand the side of sports no one tends to tell them; while also helping them create a plan for the day they have to experience the loss of the sport they love is something I hold near and dear to my heart.
